Just as a ball can roll funny, life can also go strange ways. Yesterday morning we received the news that Jan Ooms Jr passed away during the night. A shock to all of us in the NRB family, but especially to his wife Marja, their children, Debbie, Frank and Tim and grandchildren. Not forgetting his brothers and sister. Terrible news in these hard times and so shortly after his father.
Jan, coming from a brigade family was early active on the beach and obtained his lifeguard diploma B in July 1970. Then from 1985 he was also active in the supporting but very important functions within our association of treasurer and 2nd president and in 1998 he was recognized with "Member of merit". From 2003 until April 2011 he fulfilled with verve the role of secretary and as thanks and appreciation for his efforts he was appointed Honorary Member.
Even after that, Jan continued to apply himself with enthusiasm and no job was too much. If there was a gap, Jan jumped in to help. On Monday evenings he was a regular guest to do odd jobs and to play klaverjassen. Getting wet and yet the smile remained on his face.
A smile, his commitment and support we will forever miss at the club.
Thanks for this Jan and rest in peace.
On behalf of the Noordwijk Rescue Brigade I wish Marja, Debbie, Frank and Tim, grandchildren and his family and the many friends a lot of strength in the coming time. And let us console ourselves with the words: "People go, but memories remain."

Honor Guard
April 20 | 1:30 pm
Tuesday, April 20, we want to pay our last respects to Jan by forming an honor guard on the boulevard near the Lighthouse. I ask everyone who can attend to come in brigade clothes; yellow polo shirt or red softshell jacket. We will gather at 13:30 at the lighthouse.

Although we would prefer to commemorate Jan together with you, a gathering in this way is unfortunately not possible. Therefore we will say goodbye to Jan in private.
