The National Rescue Fleet (NRV) is deployed as a "first response" to major water calamities and floods in the Netherlands. The NRV consists of 88 units (vessels) and has three tasks: reconnaissance, evacuation & rescue, and logistical support. Reddingsbrigade Noordwijk provides one of these 88 units.
The investigation and reconnaissance of a flood plain. This includes looking at its accessibility and the possible numbers of victims and evacuees. In addition, the demand for help is determined.
Evacuation and rescue
Providing first aid to people and animals in the flood plain.
Supporting emergency services with facilitation and logistical tasks such as moving equipment, people and resources.
