Lifesaving training courses

Home " Lifesaving " Lifesaving training courses

After passing the Swim-ABC you can continue training at the Noordwijk Rescue Brigade within the lifesaving diploma line. Within this training you will be taught in a sporting way how to increase your self-reliance. In addition, you will learn the basic skills of swimming rescue. Lifesavers can save themselves and others in an emergency situation. There are several diplomas, which increase in difficulty.

Lesson times

The Lifesaving swim training takes place on Tuesday evening in the competition pool of swimming pool Binnenzee. The classes are divided into the following times:

  • Junior savior: 7:00-7:40 p.m. and 7:40-20:20 p.m. (depending on age)
  • Swimming lifeguard: 7:40-8:20 p.m.
  • Lifesaver: 19:40-20:20 or 20:20-21:00

Junior Lifeguard (1 to 4)

Children can progress to Junior Lifeguard after passing the Swim-ABC. The main goal is to increase self-reliance in a playful manner. Much attention is paid to improving swimming technique and dealing with special situations in the water. The children are also introduced to rescue equipment and learn how to save themselves and others using a dry rescue (a rescue from the shore).

Swimmer's lifeguard (1 to 4)

The Swimmer's Rescue program teaches how to perform a dry rescue (from the shore) and a swimming (wet) rescue, possibly with assistance and rescue equipment. The emphasis is on approaching and transporting a drowning person. Working together is central. Specific attention is paid to acting during an accident, searching for drowning persons in unknown water and ensuring the safety of rescuer and drowning person during a rescue.

A Swimming Lifeguard can rescue a drowning person by searching, approaching and transporting them, possibly with additional aid and rescue equipment.

Lifesaver (1 to 3)

In Junior Lifeguard and Swimmer Lifeguard all the different rescue methods are taught. During the Livesaver training you will learn under which circumstances these rescue methods can be used. When do you perform a dry or wet rescue and with what aid or rescue equipment?

With the Lifesaver diplomas, you learn to work in groups and solve different problems together. In addition to practicing in the pool, theory classes are given for this diploma line. Providing first aid is part of the training.
