83% of parents do not know that a child drowns soundlessly and quickly
Three quarters of children who experience drowning are 0-5 years old
Every parent knows that water is dangerous for young children. In the past ten years, an average of 78 children drowned each year in the Netherlands. Three quarters of these children are 0 to 5 years old. But what many parents don't know is that children drown quickly and without sound. Reason enough for VeiligheidNL, in cooperation with the National Swimming Safety Council, to develop information about this risk and to point this out to parents through a campaign.
